BRITISH NDP CHAMPIONSHIPS 2005 WOMEN’S GROUPS. MEN’S PAIRS, MEN’S GROUP & DISABILITY RESULTS
An exciting competition in the Intermediate Level Four Competition with only one tenth of a mark separating the Gold and Silver Medallists in the Women’s Groups Balance & Tempo routines, with West Kirby winning Gold and Wigan Seagulls in Silver position!
In the Balance Chloe Kerr, Olivia Charsley and Elisabeth Noon scored 15.70, with Victoria Healy, Tanya Johnson and Lucy Finch only 0.1 behind scoring 15.60. The tempo routine was to decide the British Title and West Kirby again just edged ahead to score 15.333 against Wigan’s 15.233 to win the Championships. The West Kirby trio were only formed in February 2 weeks before the Prelims, and Chloe Kerr 17, Olivia Charsly 17, and Lis Noon aged 16 had trained hard, despite suffering various injuries in the last year. Chloe broke one ankle and sprained the other, and Lis had broken her thumb, but the girls were determined to compete at the British NDP Championships. Chloe, Olivia and Lis will now go on to compete at International Level in Seniors and are hoping to compete at this year’s British Tournament.
For Wigan Seagulls, it was only the second competition as a Women’s Group for Vicky, Tanja and Lucy after only being together since Christmas. Vicky aged 22 began gymnastics when she was 4, and had a break of 6 years before returning to the sport only 2 years ago. Vicky and Tanya will now compete in the British Tournament in November.
Deerness Valley maintained their deserved reputation at British Level winning two British Titles winning the Women’s Groups Intermediate 2 and Men’s Pairs Intermediate 1 Competitions. Congratulations to all of the gymnasts on a great performance.
